The Solutions
We have helped over twenty different government and public bodies, in three countries, to achieve their objectives in public service.
Sometimes we simply provide advice at pre-tender stage.
In other cases we win competitive tenders. We then work closely with the awarding authority to bring these projects to a successful conclusion within a fixed budget.
These are typically multi-year projects during which we continue to support, maintain and enhance the delivered solution.
The Results
Our custom software solutions benefit the public in various ways. The following is a subset of our work in this sector:
High standards of transparency in public office are enforced by SIPO. We created and manage the Register of Lobbying that supports the office's valuable work.
Commuters on Dublin Bus benefit from efficiencies created by our Fare Evasion administration system, and our Taxsaver / Leap Card integration.
We also enabled Bus Eireann passengers to purchase TaxSaver Leap Card tickets.
The Action Plan for Jobs, operated by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, is one of the Irish Government's key instruments to support job creation. Dovetail's custom reporting tool helps keep it all on track.
Fare Evaders on Irish Rail are processed through our custom system, helping drive down fares for the majority.
Consumers can make healthier choices in restaurants and other food outlets thanks to MenuCal, our calorie calculator and allergen tracker. MenuCal is deployed by the Food Safety Authorities in Ireland, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
LUAS passengers stay abreast of alerts and travel updates using our LUAS mobile apps for iPhone and Android. More details on our work with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) are available in this case study.
The National Transport Authority's Journey Planner helps thousands of travellers plan their trips across multiple modes of public transport. Dovetail provides the real time information feed for the LUAS.
We helped small exporters prepare for international growth with our IT Strategy Workbook and other tools commissioned by Enterprise Ireland.
When the public identify safety issues in the workplace, they report them to the Health and Safety Authority through our custom applications.
Students across the country rely on getting their grants in a timely fashion. Dovetail helped Student Universal Support Ireland to alleviate performance issues in legacy systems to keep things moving.
Protecting our wild salmon stocks is a critical function of Inland Fisheries Ireland. The stocks are part of our natural heritage and a valuable tourist resource. We helped IFI with a custom system used by staff, tourists, anglers, shopkeepers and fishing inspectors.
The Irish Government must meet stringent reporting measures in order to draw down structural funds from the European Union. We helped Department of Public Expenditure and Reform to assess the challenging new requirements for the latest cohesion funds.
